At Optix Australia, we’re proud to be celebrating Truck Week 2026, a nationwide initiative recognising Australia’s heavy vehicle industry and the vital role it plays in keeping the country moving.

A huge part of that conversation is driver safety. As we reflect on the road freight, transport and logistics sectors, we’re encouraging fleet managers to consider the importance of empowering drivers through better education, real-time feedback and the tools they need to make safer decisions on the road.

With around 30 percent of fatal crashes linked to work-related driving, improving driver awareness and knowledge remains an important part of broader safety strategy.

At Optix, we support this through technology and data-driven insights that help fleets improve visibility, strengthen safety outcomes and support drivers behind the wheel.

Investing in driver knowledge isn’t just about reducing risk – it’s about building a stronger, safer and more resilient industry for everyone.

Media commentary from Mark Dudman, Senior Fleet Safety Consultant, Optix

“Truck Week is an important opportunity to recognise the critical role Australia’s heavy vehicle industry plays in keeping the nation moving. It’s also an opportunity to reinforce the need to keep driver safety front and centre.

Safety starts with well-trained drivers. Empowering drivers through better education, real-time feedback and access to meaningful data leads to better decisions behind the wheel which improve safety across fleets.

With around 30 percent of fatal crashes linked to work-related driving, there is a strong case for investment initiatives that support driver awareness and risk reduction.

Truck Week offers time to remember that investing in driver knowledge and safety is not only about reducing risk – it’s about building a stronger, safer and more resilient transport industry in the future.”
